Selina M. Urbina is Chief Risk Officer, Enterprise Risk Programs and Chief Administrative
Officer for Legal, Risk & Compliance. In this capacity she is responsible for overseeing the
firm’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework and Governance, including all Enterprise
Operational Risk Programs. She is also responsible for Supervisory Affairs and delivering
centralized, day to day operational services to Legal, Risk and Compliance (“LR&C”).
In her more than 20 years at TIAA, Selina has held numerous leadership roles in the
Institutional Retirement business, Marketing and Law areas. Prior to joining the LR&C
team in 2018, Selina was a General Manager for the Institutional Retirement Business
overseeing a regional team of relationship managers, client services managers and field
consultants serving the 170 institutional and 200,000 individual clients in the New York
City Higher Education and Private K‐12 markets. She also operated TIAA’s New York
Financial Center, a retail storefront serving New York City‐based individual customers.
Selina started her career at TIAA in 1999 as Tax Counsel, where she advised the Education
Savings business, Corporate and Human Resources divisions. Since 2003, she has held
several business management, execution, integration and strategic planning roles,
including Chief of Staff to the Head of Institutional and Individual Client Services and Chief
of Staff to TIAA’s Chief Marketing Officer.
Prior to TIAA, Selina was a Senior Tax Associate at PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Selina earned a J.D. and LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law and a
B.A. in Mathematics from Vassar College. She holds FINRA Series 7 and 24 registrations.
