Lincoln Financial

Carey Hobbs serves as Lincoln Financial Group’s Chief Risk Officer since 2020. In this capacity, he is responsible for Enterprise Risk Management, Operational Risk Management, Asset Liability Management, and Corporate Risk Strategy. He joined Lincoln in July of 2015 as Senior Vice President, Head of Market Risk Management & ALM, in which he was responsible for overseeing strategy development, technology, trading, modeling, and the day-to-day management of the hedging and ALM programs. 

 

Mr. Hobbs has two decades of experience in insurance, banking, and financial services. Prior to joining Lincoln, he held positions with Voya Financial (formerly ING U.S. Financial Services) where he served as Senior Vice President, Head of Risk Management, responsible for enterprise risk management, hedging, and ALM for the US Annuity, Retirement, and Life businesses. Between 2009 and 2013 Mr. Hobbs held global leadership roles spanning the bank and insurance businesses of ING Group leading up to the IPO of Voya, effectively separating the US business from its European parent. From 2007 until 2009 he served as and Head of Derivatives with responsibility for managing ING’s capital market risks in the US, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region. 

 

Prior to joining ING Mr. Hobbs held corporate investment banking and risk positions at JP Morgan. Mr Hobbs also held the position of Senior Associate with Moody’s Investor Services, part of the Structure Finance Group, providing credit ratings for structured and asset-backed securities. 

 

Mr. Hobbs studied mathematics and physics at Adelphi University and Princeton University. He has published original research in the areas of computational plasma physics and fluid dynamics.
