USAA

Brian Goldman is the Executive Vice President and Chief Risk Officer (CRO) for USAA, one of America’s leading financial services companies, which offers insurance, banking, and investment and retirement solutions to its more than 14 million members. Brian, a proud USAA member, oversees all aspects of the association’s risk management and compliance functions. He joined USAA in May 2025.

Brian has nearly three decades of experience in global financial services and a proven track record of building and strengthening risk functions in large, complex organizations. Before joining USAA, he served as the Senior Executive Vice President and CRO at Comerica Bank. He was responsible for managing all risks, risk governance, and risk management frameworks and policies while serving as a strategic advisor on risk-related decisions. During his tenure, he led a comprehensive transformation of the bank’s risk function — enhancing regulatory relationships and advancing the company’s risk management culture.

Prior to Comerica, Brian held numerous senior risk leadership roles at Citibank and Goldman Sachs. While at Citibank, he was responsible for the governance and oversight of second line programs as Head of Operational Risk for Citibank’s Institutional Client Group and as interim firm-wide head of Operational Risk. In those roles, he enhanced the risk management functions across multiple business lines, strengthened Citi’s risk management culture and helped the company navigate regulatory matters.

Brian spent nearly 25 years at Goldman Sachs, serving in senior leadership positions in the U.S. and Japan, including Head of Operational Risk, Head of Enterprise Risk Management and CRO of Goldman Sach’s operations division. In those roles, he led global teams and was instrumental in establishing and strengthening critical risk functions including risk taxonomies and key lines of defense.

A grandson of a U.S. Army veteran who served in World War II with Gen. Patton, Brian is proud to serve military families like his as USAA’s CRO.

He holds a B.A. in history from Rutgers University. Brian, his wife, their three children and their chocolate lab live in Dallas, and he travels regularly to San Antonio. They enjoy traveling and sports, and you can often find Brian and his wife on the sidelines, cheering and managing their children’s sports careers.
